i mean yes of course i took pictures but i swear no camera can do this woman justice she came out in the middle of her own song but somehow made us believe she was going through all those emotions in each track for the first time in her life i mean she laughed and played coy and screamed and joked and fell to her knees and prowled the stage like a lion and jumped up in the air and never broke character and used a fresh guitar for each track because why not and she smacked the pedals at her feet to close out a song and asked if someone had a cigarette and performed her heart out for an audience that included a guy yelling we love you in that ridiculously beautiful building and honestly dude same

Bookshelf

Dad visited my Bangalore apartment a while ago and he complimented me on the books I’d been reading. This made me feel rather warm. It’s common for friends to gloss over the contents of your shelf, but it’s special when your dad, who taught you what Yeah means and laughed when you told him you’d been skipping over that word in dialogues, finds himself genuinely interested in a couple of your favourites and delivers a smile of approval.

Google Summer of Code

I’ve been putting off writing a blog for a while, but as my GSoC coding period comes to an end, I thought it’d be a good idea to write about what I worked on and what I learnt from working with Zulip as a GSoC student.

My proposal was primarily concerned with making Zulip’s desktop app an obvious choice for all Zulip users, and I’ve worked with my mentor (Akash Nimare) to prioritise and fine-tune the suggestions I’d outlined in the proposal. I’ve listed all the PRs I’ve sent in below (these were all worked on during the coding period).

Kanishk Kakar

I’m a software engineering student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, having returned to school after working as a software engineer at Goldman Sachs in Bangalore.

Photos
